Shadow painting

Now the funnel blocks and funnels are designed and sent to the printer to create the parts (a total print time of 6 hours) I thought I would take some time out to start putting the shadow effects onto the hull.  Now I know that you will be thinking “What the heck!” but its really simple as laying down a small amount of dark grey around the portholes and doors might look a bit overkill at this stage, however once the final top coats go on these will be toned down.  This method is used to make small details standout or in the case of panel lines in aircraft helps define the panel joins.

As this model will be in a display case and the smallness of the portholes I felt this would be a good way to allow the viewer see the extra detail of the portholes and doors, also this helps to give greater shadow effects to the case-mates and other areas around the vessel.
